About Priya

Priya Sarin

Just like her name, Priya is a lovely, simple girl from Delhi. She likes to share wonderful stories that enhance and empower readers by adding value and purpose to their lives; stories that can make our world a better place. Apart from writing, Priya Sarin is also the co-founder and editor  of The Students Digest which aims to empower the youth in an engaging and effective way. And she is also a social soldier in the For A Great Future project.

Writing is Priya’s true passion and calling. While she is a lively, friendly girl by nature, she needs to keep a low profile while writing. It helps her to live in her fantasy world, create stories and fully focus on writing. An ambivert by nature, this transition comes naturally to her. She believes content is the king, not marketing. So, she doesn’t care about marketing, promotions or superficial social media presence; she just likes to focus on positive, values-oriented content to engage, empower and inspire young people to reach their potential.

Her hobbies include watching cartoons and social service, especially for children. She spends most of her money and spare time in helping abandoned children. Instead of materialistic things, she derives her kick from the happy faces of these kids who are not short of talent but just short of opportunities to tap their talent. She got the bug of ‘giving and simple living’ from her grand father who came from a rich zamindar family and was a senior government official but always led a very simple life. Priya thanks God for showing her that the key to happiness lies in playing the game of giving at the young age of 17. She proudly considers herself luckier than her philanthropic heroes like Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg who took some time to realize the joy of giving.

Unlike today’s commercial authors, she avoids limelight and media. She follows Ruskin Bond’s advice that solitude is good for the soul and good for the pen, and writers need it. And being a single child of a single parent, this comes naturally to her. That’s why, wherever possible and practical, she prefers anonymity. Like her father, she also enjoys writing under funny pen names to better connect with the kids, and for honest and unbiased reviews. But then again, in this age of paid news and paid reviews, getting so many genuine and never-before-seen reviews from so many credible leaders from all walks of life is really incredible and validates Priya’s belief that content is still the true king for real readers.

It took Priya’s friends and readers quite some time and efforts to convince her to have her own website so that her readers can connect with her. Priya would love to hear from you, so please don’t hesitate to send her an e-mail at priya [at] priyasarin [dot] com or fill the form below or visit her guest book.

A tribute to a true leader. Our hearts are very heavy with the passing of Shri Arun Jaitley Ji. Today, India lost one of its great leaders who relentlessly worked to give us a better nation. Indianns are truly blessed to have had him in their lives.. I pray to God to give strength to his family to bear this irreparable losss. May his noble soul rest in peace. Om Shanti. Shri Arun Jaitley Ji was a pillar of support and encouragement for all those whose lives he touched and changed. His first letter to me, apparently insignificant when compared… Read more »

I’m really impressed with your work. May I take the liberty to ask you a few questions.
Why do you prefer pared-down lifestyle? Is it important for really creative people? How does it help you creatively?

Priya Sarin

ha-ha… good one! I don’t know whether I have a pared-down lifestyle or not. But I know that a pared-down lifestyle brings a sense of peace, serenity, compassion and lets us see the good in everyone. When we have a minimalist take on life, we think a lot about the ‘what’ and the ‘why’ of the things we really need. In examining what it’s like to live lean, it’s important to put away limiting beliefs – preconceived notions that keep us from living in the present moment, from becoming content and peaceful inside; notions that keep us from realizing our… Read more »

Madhuri

Priya, your analysis is bang on point and gives a very clear picture of how minimalist living pays. No wonder that’s why many richest people like Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Mark and our own icons like Azim Premji, Narayanmurthy and Kiran lead a pared-down lifestyle. But then, many feel it is countercultural. Minimalist living is contrary to every advertisement we see because we live in a society that prides itself on the accumulation of flashier stuff. So a minimalist lifestyle is perceived as countercultural, almost rebel. And I fully agree that giving is living; if we want to feel truly… Read more »

While most like your work, there will always be some envious or jealous creatures. Now may I ask you 2 questions? Thanks in advance and best regards.
A. How do you feel when someone gives a GOOD comment?
B. How do you feel when someone gives a BAD comment?

Priya

Here’s a quick reply.
A. I feel we are nt in Kali Yuga yet.
B. First, I don’t expect everyone to appreciate my work. When someone gives a genuine BAD comment, I strive to do better. And I don’t care about casual bad comments as long as my target audience is happy. And when I get a jealous comment, I take that as a BIG compliment.
Thank u.

Ekta

Your thoughts on bad, jealous comments really intrigue me. Recently my article was published on the school’s website. It was well liked by alll my teachers. But soon I started getting hate mails with negative, weird comments from unknown email ids. While jealousy was obvious, I couldn’t pinpoint anyone. When my friend found the identity of the crooked person behind those jealous emails, Iwas shocked. It was my always sweet, caring cousin. Thankfully truth prevails! And cowards who hide behind the anonymous tag are always exposed. How should I confront my cousin, or should I report to the police who… Read more »

Priya is traveling. Being a personal matter, she will personally reply on yur personal email. Meanwhile, Here’s some quick advice. There are kind cousins, and there are crooked cousins. Once you know the difference, you win. Instead of being disheartened, you should feel proud if you get jealous comments. Do you know why celebs like Trump, RaGa and Kejriwal started getting trolled only after they became somebody? Because people try to bring down only those who r above them. Continue your success march and let your shine burn th jealous people. Don’t trust me? Trust these wise men – “The… Read more »

The masterful blend of fiction and nonfiction in yur books provides a great example of giving back for the children and others who look to you for guidance. The book “Get Ready for A Great Future” by Priya Sarin is a wonderful way to teach kids, as well as adults such as me, life’s lessons without being preachy. Parents have hopes and dreams for their children, and they do their best to impart good morals and values to their kids which will help them to grow up to be happy, successful and righteous individuals. I must say that such creative contributions to kids or young adult literature is the greatest hope for humanity, and the greatest value of living. It is real education i.e. value education where effective and urgent actions are needed to counter the erosion of the ideals in the society. We must plant the seeds of greatness in our children, otherwise our society will crumble owing to the weeds of apathy and opportunism. You are really doing a great job by inspiring our future citizens with great stories of love and hope, right and wrong… pretty much all the happy, positive… Read more »

Your stories and nonfictions- whether they are based on fantasy or rooted in real life-can speak to children (and also adults) more eloquently than any list of dos or don’ts and can impart moral values as they nurture a child’s imagination. To counter bad influences in society and prepare our children for future roles, the main goals of education should be enabling children to gain knowledge and moral values. But the neglect of teaching moral values in our education system is damaging our children and causing problems in society. I’m happy that people like you are trying to make a… Read more »

I just read Success Secrets from the Ramayana. I knew the story by heart, but immensely enjoyed your take on the Ramayana. Seems Mr Bill Gates read this page and acknowledged your comments about beating him. You wrote he took ‘some time to realize the joy of giving’ but he openly said: “Took me decades to learn.” It’s really nice to know that even the richest philanthropist in the world can have big regrets, and we lesser mortals can do a better job. But frankly i’m in awe of his humility and his capacity for true altruism. See how he selflessly acknowledged it in a series of posts on Twitter on May 15, 2017: Bill Gates ✔ @BillGates 5/ I also have… Read more »
